Health & Safety at Sage Parlour Australia
At Sage Parlour Australia, client safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance are our highest priorities. We operate under NSW Health skin penetration guidelines and maintain strict protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment for every service.
Infection Control & Hygiene Standards
All artists hold the required NSW skin penetration training and follow current public health regulations.
Single-use, sterile needles and cartridges are opened in front of each client and disposed of immediately after use.
All equipment that is not single-use is sterilised using hospital-grade disinfectants.
Workstations are thoroughly sanitised before and after every appointment.
Gloves are worn at all times during tattoo procedures and replaced as required to prevent cross-contamination.
Studio Environment
Our studio is maintained to meet NSW Health requirements for ventilation, waste disposal, and infection control.
Clinical-grade disinfectants are used throughout the space.
Sharps and contaminated waste are disposed of in certified medical waste containers by a licensed waste contractor.
Client Health Requirements
To ensure your safety and optimal healing:
Please inform your artist of any medical conditions, medications, allergies, skin sensitivities, or blood-thinning substances.
Clients must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol during their appointment.
If you are feeling unwell, we request you reschedule your appointment for both your safety and ours.
Pregnant or breastfeeding clients should consult a healthcare professional before booking; we recommend postponing tattoo procedures during this time.
Consent & Legal Requirements
All clients must present valid identification.
Individuals aged 18+ may be tattooed without additional permissions.
Clients aged 16 or 17 may only be tattooed with verified parent or guardian consent, specifying design and placement.
It is illegal to tattoo anyone under 16, regardless of consent.
Aftercare & Healing Support
Proper aftercare is essential for safe healing. At the end of your session, you will receive:
Written aftercare instructions tailored to your tattoo
Guidance on cleaning, moisturising, and protecting the tattoo
Information on normal healing stages and what to expect
Advice on when to seek medical care if complications arise
Allergy & Sensitivity Considerations
We use high-quality, regulated inks sourced from reputable suppliers.
Pigments used in the studio meet international safety standards.
If you have known allergies (e.g., latex, adhesives, metals, fragrances, topical creams), please inform your artist prior to your appointment so we can accommodate your needs.
Bloodborne Pathogen Prevention
We adhere to strict procedures to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens:
Mandatory use of PPE
Proper cleaning and disinfection of surfaces
Correct handling and disposal of sharps
No reuse of single-use items
Adherence to NSW Public Health Act requirements
Our Commitment
We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for every client. Your health, comfort, and trust are central to our practice, and our procedures are regularly reviewed to maintain high standards of care.
