Tattoo Aftercare – Second Skin Method

Your tattoo has been protected with a medical-grade adhesive film (commonly known as second skin). This creates a sterile, breathable barrier that supports optimal healing and reduces risk of irritation. Please follow the instructions below carefully.

1. First 24 Hours

  • Leave the second-skin bandage on for 24 hours unless advised otherwise by your artist.

  • It is normal to see plasma, ink, or mild cloudiness underneath the film.

  • Avoid strenuous activities that cause heavy sweating.

  • Keep the bandage clean and dry.

2. Removing the Film

  • Remove the bandage slowly, ideally in the shower.

  • Peel the film gently, pull a corner out and away, the film will lift on its own, do not force it.

  • If it feels tight or uncomfortable, let warm water run over the area to ease removal.

3. Cleaning the Tattoo

After removing the bandage:

  1. Wash your hands.

  2. Gently wash the tattoo using lukewarm water and a fragrance-free, antibacterial or gentle pH-neutral soap.

  3. Use your fingertips only—no cloths, sponges, or exfoliants.

  4. Rinse clean and pat dry with a clean paper towel.

4. Daily Care (Days 2–14)

  • Apply a thin layer of your artist-recommended aftercare product 1–2 times per day.

  • Do not over-moisturise; the tattoo should not look shiny, wet, or sticky.

  • Allow the tattoo to breathe—avoid re-bandaging unless directed.

  • Expect light peeling or flaking during days 3–7; this is normal. Do not pick or scratch.

5. Do Not

  • No swimming, spas, baths, saunas, or ocean water for 2–3 weeks.

  • Do not expose the tattoo to direct sun. No tanning beds.

  • Avoid heavy sweating, friction, or tight clothing over the area.

  • Do not scratch, pick, or peel at skin or scabs.

  • No makeup, oils, perfumes, or fake tan on or near the area.

6. Long-Term Care

  • Once healed, apply SPF 50+ when outdoors to preserve vibrancy.

  • Keep the skin moisturised as part of your everyday routine.

7. When to Contact Us

Seek professional advice if you notice:

  • Excessive redness or heat after 48 hours

  • Pus, foul odour, or unusual discharge

  • Increasing pain or swelling

Tattoo Aftercare – Traditional Dressing Method

Your tattoo has been covered with a sterile, non-adhesive bandage. This protects the fresh work from bacteria, friction, and contamination. Proper aftercare is essential for a clean and vibrant heal.

1. First Few Hours

  • Keep the bandage on for 2–4 hours unless your artist provides different instructions.

  • Avoid touching, pressing, or removing the bandage prematurely.

  • Keep the area dry and protected.

2. First Clean

After removing the bandage:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly.

  2. Wash the tattoo gently with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free antibacterial or pH-neutral soap.

  3. Rinse well and pat dry with a clean paper towel.

  4. Allow the tattoo to air dry for 10–15 minutes.

3. Moisturising

  • Apply a very thin layer of your artist-recommended aftercare product.

  • Do not smother the tattoo—too much moisture may lead to irritation or prolonged healing.

  • Moisturise 1–2 times daily for the first two weeks, adjusting as needed based on dryness.

4. The Healing Process (Days 2–14)

  • Expect light peeling, flaking, or small scabs.

  • Do not pick, scratch, or exfoliate.

  • Wear loose, breathable clothing to avoid friction.

  • Redness and tenderness are normal during the initial days.

5. Do Not

  • Do not soak the tattoo—no pools, spas, baths, or ocean for 2–3 weeks.

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning.

  • Avoid sweating excessively or engaging in activities that stretch or rub the area.

  • Do not apply petroleum jelly, oils, perfumes, or harsh creams.

  • Avoid sleeping on the tattoo or letting pets near it.

6. Long-Term Care

  • Keep the tattoo protected with SPF 50+ once healed.

  • Maintain hydration and moisturise regularly to preserve colour and linework.
